Criminal Charges:
Juvenile charged in the Attleboro Juvenile Court, Bristol County, Massachusetts for:
- Two Counts of Home Invasion, in violation of M.G.L. c. 265, § 18C
Case Overview:
Police received a call from a woman claiming there was a burglary in progress inside of her home. After hearing a loud bang and voices, she observed on video, three unknown males in her basement, one of whom was carrying a firearm. The woman stayed inside while awaiting police and the suspects ultimately fled from the property. Police collected the camera footage as evidence. This event was not the first time the home was burglarized. A similar incident occurred two weeks prior whereby approximately $1,860 and various electronics were stolen. Police compared the video surveillance from both incidents and determined they involved the same people. The video also enabled police to determine the license plate of the vehicle used to flee the scene, enabling police to identify, locate and arrest the three men, one of whom was a juvenile. When interviewed by police, the juvenile admitted his role in both burglaries and confessed to being armed with a gun. In response, the juvenile was charged with two counts of Home Invasion in Attleboro Juvenile Court. He and his family retained Massachusetts Criminal Defense Firm, the Law Office of John L. Case Result: Continuation Without a Finding.
At his arraignment and following the Commonwealth’s motion to hold the juvenile in the custody of the Department of Youth Services without bail, Attorney Calcagni and his successfully secured the man’s pretrial release. After the passage of time and analysis of the case, Attorney Calcagni and his team successfully negotiated a pretrial resolution of this case with a Continuation Without a Finding for 2.5 months.
