Case Overview
Police were dispatched to a parking lot for a hit and run accident. Upon arrival, police encountered a standing next to his heavily damaged vehicle that had apparently been pushed 20-30 feet from its original parking space. The man indicated that after returning to his car in the lot he noticed that it had bene both displaced and damaged but had no idea as to who was responsible. Several days later, an eyewitness came forward and indicated she was a passenger in the motor vehicle that struck the parked car and that she suffered a neck injury as a result. She also identified and implicated the driver. Police attempted to contact the driver numerous times, but he refused to return their calls or file an accident report. Police summoned the driver to the Fall River District for an arraignment to answer charges of Leaving the Scene of Personal Injury, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and Failure to File an Accident Report. He failed to appear, causing a warrant to issue for his arrest. The man then retained Massachsuetts Criminal Defense Lawyer, John L. Calcagni, to assist him with removing the warrant and defending his case. After reviewing and analyzing the evidence, Attorney Calcagni and his team successfully persuaded the prosecution to dismiss all charges.
