Case Overview:
Police received a call from a concerned party stating that a friend was being held against her will at a residence. Police arrived at the residence and a man answered the door. Police asked him if the woman was inside which he quickly confirmed. Police located the woman in the bedroom where she was sitting on the bed with her knees to her chest. Police directed the woman, who was visibly distraught and physically trembling, to talk outside the residence. She then informed police the man had kept her at his house for a few days and would not let her leave. She also informed police that the man forced her to have sex with him multiple times a day. When asked if she tried to call 9-1-1, she told police the man had taken her phone, so she was unable to do so, but that he gave it back for “being a good girl” which is how she texted her friend for help. The woman further informed police the man was using sex toys on her, forced her to take pills and kept her in an upstairs bedroom with the door screwed shut. Police then observed one of the rooms upstairs to have screws securing the door shut through the wooden studs. The woman also told police the man had beat her up, resulting in bruises all over her body. She further alleged that he strangled her. Police observed bruising on the woman’s arms, wrists, chest, shoulders, and neck, and scratch marks on her thighs, back, and shoulder blades. Based on the woman’s claims and police observations, the man was arrested and charged with Kidnapping, Aggravated Rape, Strangulation or Suffocation, Drugging for Sexual Intercourse, Witness Intimidation, and Assault to Rape. His father immediately retained Massachusetts Criminal Defense Lawyer, John L. Calcagni III, Inc. to represent him in his case.
Case Result: Dismissed.
After conducting investigatory efforts on the man’s behalf, securing the man’s release on bail, analyzing the evidence, and ongoing discussions with the District Attorney’s Office, Attorney Calcagni and his team successfully secured the dismissal of this case and its charges.
