Case Overview:

A woman was watching TV in her living room when she heard loud music and screaming coming from the back of her beach front property near the seawall. She walked outside and noticed several juveniles trespassing and causing a ruckus on her property. An argument ensued between her and one of the juvenile males who alleged that she picked up a pipe and struck him in the head. The juveniles fled from her property. The juvenile who was allegedly struck called 9-1-1. When police arrived, the woman denied the allegation despite that all the juveniles present corroborated the assault claim. Later that evening, the complainant went to the emergency room and was diagnosed with a concussion. The woman was charged with Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon in Fall River District Court. She retained Massachusetts Criminal Defense Lawyer, John L. Calcagni III, and his team, to represent her in the case.

Case Result: Not Guilty.

The woman ultimately elected her right to proceed to trial. Following jury selection, opening statements, testimony from the witnesses, presentation of exhibits, and closing arguments, the jury returned a verdict of not guilty.
