Case Overview:

In April 2020, Norton Police responded to a man’s residence after his wife called 911 and reported that he pushed her into a wall, grabbed her by the throat, and strangled her.  During the altercation, the man also allegedly broke both a portion of the wall and a picture frame and threatened to kill his wife.  The wife broke free and attempted to call her mother.  The man responded by smashing her cell phone and iPad, shattering both screens.  In his fit of rage, he also punched a hole in the wall.  Prior to police arriving, the man fled in his vehicle.  Police photographed the damage to the home and the wife’s injuries.  Police charged the man in Attleboro District Court and issued an arrest warrant for Strangulation or Suffocation, Assault and Battery on a Family or Household Member, Intimidating a Witness, and Threatening to Commit a Crime.  The man remained at large until October 2020, when police were again dispatched to the same residence for a domestic disturbance between the couple again.  This time, the two had an argument, during which time the man smashed the front windshield and driver’s side window of her vehicle.  Police arrived and arrested the man on both the active warrant for his arrest from April 2020 and a new charge of Assault and Battery on a Family Household or Member.  The man hired Massachusetts Criminal Defense Attorney, John L. Calcagni III, to defend him in these matters.

Case Result:

At arraignment, Attorney John L. Calcagni, III and his team successfully opposed the prosecution’s motion to hold the man without bail on dangerousness grounds.  He was released on $1,500 cash bail with conditions.

Bail granted.
