Domestic Incident Charges Dismissed in North Attleboro Court

Police commenced an investigation into the report of a domestic incident that occurred between a girlfriend and her boyfriend at a small party at a private residence. Police interviewed several witnesses who were present at the party. The first witness informed police that she witnessed the boyfriend being physically assaulted by his girlfriend. Police spoke to a second witness who informed them she witnessed the girlfriend strike the boyfriend at least once in the face with a closed fist and the girlfriend was previously charged with domestic abuse against the boyfriend in Hawaii. Police spoke to a third witness who witnessed the girlfriend punch her boyfriend in the face and proceed to attack him a second time after the initial altercation came to an end. Police spoke to a fourth witness who informed them that when the girlfriend left the residence, she threw her phone at the neighbor’s mailbox and punched it, which damaged and broke the mailbox off the post. Police then spoke to the boyfriend, who corroborated that he was attacked and informed police of the injuries he sustained to his leg during the incident. He further informed police that his girlfriend was also throwing items that belonged to him out the window during the incident. A warrant issued for the girlfriend’s arrest, and she was charged with Assault and Battery on a Family / Household Member and Vandalizing Property. The girlfriend, who was in the Army National Guard, retained Massachusetts Criminal Defense Attorney John L. Calcagni III to represent her in her case, who successfully secured the dismissal of all charges, and averted any collateral consequences to her military career.
