Case Overview:

Members of the New Bedford Police responded to a domestic disturbance at an apartment.  Upon arrival, they spoke to a woman who informed them she was just assaulted by her husband who left out the back door.  Police noticed the woman had a minor cut on her neck and that her hand was red and swollen.  She then asked her husband to leave the home, but he refused.  Instead, he called her derogatory names, pulled out a knife, and threatened to kill her.  When she attempted to call the police, he grabbed the phone and struck her in the right side of her face and neck with it.  He then grabbed her by the neck with his other hand, threw her on the bed, and exited the home.  Police contacted the man by phone, who agreed to turn himself in to authorities.  The man first retained Massachusetts Criminal Defense Lawyer, John L. Calcagni III, to defend him in his case.

Case Result: Dismissed.

Attorney Calcagni and his team coordinated the man’s surrender in New Bedford District Court, and immediately secured his release on bail.  Next, Attorney Calcagni and his team conducted an independent investigation and obtained an affidavit of non-prosecution from the man’s wife.  Armed with this information, the defense successfully convinced the prosecution to dismiss this case.
